So, I wanted to get a visa for Guadeloupe. I went to look it up, and it turns out, if you have a U.S. passport, you don’t even need one. You can just go there for a short trip, no problem.
But I also saw that there are these companies, like Travel Document Systems, that can help you get a visa quickly if you need one. They have all the forms and stuff you need for a Guadeloupe visa. So I figured I’d check out what I might need.
It looks like Guadeloupe is one of those French places that’s part of the Schengen Area, so the rules for getting in are probably similar to other places in Europe. I guess if I wasn’t from the U.S., I might need to get a Schengen visa.

There are websites in Dutch, too, that talk about getting a visa for Guadeloupe. They say you can apply online and pay with something called iDEAL or Mister Cash. Sounds easy enough, but I’m glad I don’t have to do all that.
I did see that if you want to get a visa to the U.S., the fastest way is to get a tourist visa, a B1/B2. Apparently, you can get an appointment pretty quickly, and if your visa gets approved, you can even fly out the same day you get it. They say you need to fill out some forms on the U.S. embassy’s website to get that kind of visa. So I did have to fill out a form.
Here’s what I did to actually get started:
- First, I filled out the online visa application form I found.
- Then, I paid the application fee.
- After that, I just waited to hear back from them.
In the end, it was way easier than I thought it would be. Turns out, having a U.S. passport made things simple for visiting Guadeloupe. I didn’t have to do anything special to get a visa.
