Okay, here is my sharing about how I got my Azerbaijan driving license:
So, a while back, I decided I needed to get a driver’s license in Azerbaijan. I mean, I wanted to drive legally there, you know? It wasn’t as simple as I thought it would be, but I figured it out in the end.
First, I tried to understand what I needed. Turns out, if you already have a driver’s license from your own country, and if it meets certain “international standards,” you might be okay to drive in Azerbaijan for a while. But I wanted something more permanent, so I looked into getting a local license.

The first thing I did was to enroll in a driving school. Yeah, I had to go back to school! I found one nearby and signed up. It wasn’t too bad, actually. We had these classes where they taught us all the traffic rules and regulations in Azerbaijan. Some were similar to what I already knew, but others were quite different.
- Theory Lessons: These were like regular classroom sessions. We had a teacher who would explain all the road signs, markings, and laws. There was a lot to memorize!
- Practical Lessons: This was the fun part, but also nerve-wracking. I got to drive around with an instructor. He would guide me and correct me when I made mistakes. It took some time to get used to driving on the right side of the road!
After I felt I was ready, I had to take some tests. First, there was a written test on all the theory stuff I learned. I studied hard and, thankfully, I passed it on my first try! Then came the practical driving test. This was the real deal. I had to drive around with an examiner, following his instructions and showing him I could drive safely and according to the rules.
I was so nervous during the practical test, my hands were shaking on the steering wheel! But I managed to keep it together and do everything I was supposed to do. After what felt like an eternity, the examiner told me I passed! What a relief!
With those tests done, I just had to go to some government office, fill out a bunch of forms, pay some fees, and get my photo taken. Then, after a bit of waiting, they handed me my very own Azerbaijan driving license! I was so proud of myself!
Honestly, it was a bit of a process, but totally worth it. Now I can drive around Azerbaijan whenever I want, without worrying. It’s great to have that freedom. If you’re planning to drive in Azerbaijan, just be prepared for some studying and tests, but don’t worry, you can do it!
