So, I recently had to get a Lithuanian visa, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey. I thought I’d share my experience here, just in case any of you are planning a trip to Lithuania and need to go through the same process.
Figuring Out Where to Start
First off, I had no clue where to even begin. I mean, a visa? I’ve barely traveled internationally. After some Googling and reading through a bunch of confusing websites, I finally figured out that you can start the whole thing online. There’s this site, “*,” where you’re supposed to fill out the application form and upload all your documents.
Gathering All the Paperwork
Man, the documents. This was probably the most tedious part. You need your passport, obviously, but also a whole bunch of other stuff. I had to dig up bank statements, travel insurance, and even a letter from my job saying I was actually employed and had a reason to come back to my country. It felt like I was writing my autobiography, but with more official-sounding language.

Filling Out the Application Form
Then came the application form itself. It was long. Really long. And some of the questions were pretty confusing. I had to double-check some of the fields multiple times to make sure I wasn’t messing anything up. It’s kind of like doing your taxes, but with higher stakes. You definitely don’t want to get anything wrong, and they ask for all sorts of details about your life, your travel history, and your reasons for visiting Lithuania.
Uploading Everything and Waiting
After I finally filled out the form and gathered all the documents, I uploaded everything to the website. It felt a bit like sending my entire life into the digital void, hoping it would land in the right hands. And then, the waiting began. It’s like sending a message in a bottle and hoping someone finds it and writes back. Luckily I found that you can check your application status online using your reference number and date of birth, so at least I wasn’t totally in the dark.
Success!
After what felt like forever, I finally got the email. My visa was approved! It was such a relief. I printed out the confirmation and started planning my trip for real. It was a lot of work, but hey, I got the visa, and that’s what matters. Now I can finally explore Lithuania without worrying about getting turned away at the border.
My Advice
- Start early: This whole process takes time, so don’t wait until the last minute.
- Double-check everything: Make sure your documents are in order and you’ve filled out the form correctly.
- Be patient: The waiting can be the hardest part, but just hang in there.
Hopefully, my little adventure in visa application land will be helpful to someone out there. It’s not the most fun process, but it’s definitely doable. Just take it one step at a time, and you’ll get there. Good luck!
