So, I decided to take a trip to North Korea. Yeah, you heard that right, North Korea. Sounds crazy, I know, but I was super curious. First thing I did was hit up a tour agency that specializes in trips there. Found one online that seemed legit. They sent me this huge list of things I needed to do to get a visa.
I had to get my ducks in a row. First up, a passport-size picture. It had to have a white background, no smiling, very official-looking. I went to a local photo shop to get it done. They probably thought I was a bit nuts, going to North Korea and all.
Next, a copy of my passport. I just scanned it at home. Easy peasy.
Then came the North Korea visa application form. This was a bit of a beast. Lots of questions about my job, where I’ve traveled before, and all sorts of personal details. I filled it out as honestly as I could, which was a little nerve-wracking, to be honest. I made sure to fill out every blank.
Lastly, I had to sign a terms and agreement form with the tour agency. It was pretty standard stuff, promising I’d follow all their rules and regulations. I signed it and sent it back with all the other documents.
- I sent everything in and then… I waited.
- The agency said they’d let me know if they needed anything else.
- I kept checking my email like a hawk, wondering if I’d get approved.
- They told me that 99.9% of their North Korean tourist visas are processed without issue, usually in less than two weeks.
- Finally, after a week and a half, I got an email.
The Waiting Game
I got the green light! They approved my visa application! I was so stoked. I know most people wouldn’t get it, but I was thrilled. It was actually happening. I’m going to North Korea. I started packing my bags almost immediately. This is going to be one wild adventure, that’s for sure. Wish me luck, folks!
