Alright, so I needed a new Thai passport, and let me tell you, figuring out how to get one online was a bit of a trip. I started by checking the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, figuring that’d be the best place to start. They have a section about booking an appointment online, which sounded super convenient.

I went ahead and tried to make an appointment online. I needed to register first, providing them with my personal details. It was pretty straightforward, like signing up for any other online service. They ask you for your name, ID number, and that kind of stuff.

After registering, I was able to choose a date and time that worked for me from their available slots. I picked a slot on a Tuesday morning. They sent me a confirmation email with all the appointment details, which I printed out, just in case.

On the day of the appointment, I made sure I had all my documents ready. I took my old, expired passport, a photocopy of the photo page, and a filled-out application form. You can get the application form from the consulate, but I downloaded it beforehand to save some time. I got to the place a little early, just in case there was a line.

Turned out, showing up early was a good call. There were a few people already waiting, but since I had an appointment, I got seen pretty quickly. They checked my documents, took my photo and fingerprints, and I paid the fee. The whole thing was surprisingly smooth.

All in all, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Booking online definitely made things easier. Just make sure you have all your documents in order, and you should be good to go.
