Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this whole Malta visa thing. It was a bit of a headache, but I figured it out, and now I’m here to spill the beans.
Gotta Get That Visa
First off, I needed to figure out where to even start. Turns out, there’s this thing called the Central Visa Unit (CVU). They’re the big bosses for visas in Malta. I found out that these guys handle all the rules and stuff about who can come into the country and what kind of paperwork you need.
Filling Out Forms is a Pain
Next up, forms. Ugh. So many fields to fill out. I swear it took me forever. There was a button that says ‘Submit,’ and there are some notes saying by clicking it, you agree to their Terms and stuff, and that you’ve read their Data Use Policy. I guess it is important, but who actually reads those things?

Anyway, I had to fill out my name, address, passport number, why I wanted to go to Malta, and a bunch of other stuff. It probably took me, like, almost 90 minutes to get through it all. And let me tell you, it felt like I was writing a novel, not just a visa application.
Waiting Game
After I finally hit submit on that monster of an application, it was time to play the waiting game. It felt like ages. I was checking my email constantly, hoping for some kind of update. It’s like when you order something online, and you keep refreshing the tracking page, even though you know it’s not going to make it arrive any faster.
More Waiting, Seriously?
- Checked my email again.
- Still nothing.
- Checked my spam folder, just in case.
- Nope, still nothing.
Finally, Some News!
Finally, I got an email back! They needed some more information from me, like a copy of my flight itinerary and proof that I had a place to stay in Malta. I had gotten Tourist cards at those Sales and Information Points around Malta. And I also got some advice from the Visa Advisory Unit within Consular Services Office, they told me that whether or not Maltese nationals require a visa to enter. So I scrambled to get all of that together and sent it over to them.
The Finish Line
A few more days of nail-biting, and then, bam! Another email. My visa was approved! I did a little happy dance, I’m not gonna lie. It was such a relief to finally have that sorted out.
So, yeah, that’s my story of getting a Malta visa. It wasn’t exactly a walk in the park, but I made it through. If you’re planning on going to Malta, just be prepared for some paperwork and a bit of a wait. But trust me, it’s worth it in the end!
