I recently got my Turkish driver’s license online, and boy, was it a ride! I thought I’d share my experience here, in case any of you are looking to do the same.
Step 1: Gather Your Documents
First things first, you gotta get your paperwork in order. I started by making sure I had all the necessary documents. This included my passport, my residency permit, and a couple of passport-sized photos. They are pretty strict about the photo requirements, so make sure you follow their guidelines to the letter. I made a call to the driving course center to ensure all the documents I had were correct, and then made an appointment to hand them in.
Step 2: Find a Registered Driving School
Next, I had to find a driving school that could handle the online process. Not all of them do, you know. I found a registered school which seemed legit. They had good reviews, so I decided to go with them.

Step 3: Pay the Fees
Once I had all my documents, I had to pay the fees. There’s a fee for the application, a fee for the written test, and another for the practical test. It all adds up, let me tell you! The course center staff helped me pay all the fees, it seemed a lot of money, but it was cheaper than in my country.
Step 4: Take the Written Test
The driving school gave me some study materials, which were mostly common-sense stuff, but there were also some Turkey-specific rules that I had to memorize. The written test was online, which was convenient. I crammed for a few days, reviewing yield rules, parking regulations, speed limits, and those tricky road signs. I wanted to make sure I knew what those signs meant.
Step 5: Schedule and Take the Practical Test
After passing the written test, I scheduled my practical test. This was the most nerve-wracking part. The instructor was pretty chill, though. He guided me through the course, and I just had to show him I could handle the car safely. When backing to the left, I made sure to check my mirrors and signals, driving carefully.
Step 6: Wait for Your License
After what felt like forever, I got an email saying my license was ready! I went to pick it up, and it was such a relief to finally have it in my hands. I was worried a little bit during the whole process, as you know, online stuff could be tricky, and I don’t speak Turkish very well. Luckily, the course staff and my driving instructor were all very nice and helpful.
So, that’s my story. It wasn’t the easiest process, but it was definitely doable. If you’re thinking about getting your Turkish driver’s license online, I hope this helps. Just remember to stay patient and persistent, and you’ll get there!
