Well, howdy there! You wanna get yourself a Guam driver’s license, huh? Listen up, it ain’t rocket science, but you gotta pay attention, ya hear? First things first, you gotta be at least fifteen and a half years young. That’s right, fifteen and a half! Don’t come cryin’ to me if you ain’t old enough.
Now, I heard tell there’s this place called Excellent Driving School. Sounds fancy, but I reckon they teach you how to drive, which is what matters. Go on and take them classes, then they’ll give you some papers or somethin’.
After that, you gotta go fill out some forms, lots of ‘em. They call it an application, but it’s just a bunch of papers askin’ you all sorts of questions. You know, like your name, where you live, that kinda stuff. And don’t forget them other papers, the ones they call documents. Birth certificate, I think they call it, and somethin’ to prove you live where you say you live. They’re real picky about that, those city folks.

- First thing is you gotta fill out papers, lots of ‘em, they call it an application form.
- Then you gotta show ‘em papers, lots of ‘em, they call ‘em documents.
- And don’t forget, they’re gonna test your eyes, to see if you can see where you’re going.
- After all that, you get a time to take a test, a driving test I reckon, over at that UOG place. Don’t ask me what that means, it’s just a place with a bunch of letters.
So, you get yourself to that UOG place on the day they tell ya. Don’t be late! And bring your picture ID, so they know it’s really you. And that paper they gave you, the appointment paper, don’t forget that neither. Oh, and fifteen dollars, cash money only! They don’t take no checks or credit cards, just good old-fashioned cash.
Now, if you already got a license from another state, like California or Texas or one of them other places, you might be alright. But you still gotta go down to the DMV office. That’s where they do all the license stuff. And you gotta make an appointment. Can’t just walk in there like you own the place. They got a website now, or so I hear, where you can make appointments and even renew your license. Imagine that, doin’ it all on that computin’ machine! They even got this thing called Guam ID service, but I ain’t right sure what that is. Somethin’ fancy I guess.
But listen here, if you want the real deal, the Guam REAL ID Driver’s License, you gotta do some extra stuff. I don’t rightly know what all it is, but they’ll tell ya at the DMV. Just be prepared to jump through some more hoops.
And get this, they just changed the rules. Used to be you had to renew your license every few years, but now you can get one that lasts for eight whole years! Costs a bit more, sixty-five dollars they say, but might be worth it if you don’t like goin’ to the DMV all the time. Nobody does, I tell ya.
So, it ain’t so hard, see? Just follow the steps, fill out the papers, take the tests, and pay the money. And if you get confused, just ask somebody. Don’t be shy. And remember, if you’re travelin’ to other countries, you might need somethin’ called an IDP. Sounds fancy, but it’s just a way to show them foreigners that you got a real license back home. Or you can get your license translated, they said. Easier that way, I reckon.
Driver’s License, Guam ID, DMV, UOG, Application, Documents, REAL ID – these are the words you gotta remember. They’re important, see? And be patient, they said it might take a while. But if you do it all right, you’ll have that Guam driver’s license in no time. And then you can drive all over the place! Just be careful, alright? Them cars can be dangerous if you ain’t payin’ attention.
And that’s about all I know about gettin’ a driver’s license here in Guam. Now, go on and get yourself one! And don’t forget what I told ya.
