How to buy Barbados driving license online: A quick guide for you!

Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to share this for a while. I recently went through the process of getting a Barbados driving license, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey. I figured I’d document it all here, just in case anyone else is in the same boat.

First off, I did some digging online. Apparently, you can’t apply for a brand new license online, at least not yet. But, if you have a Barbados ID and your old license expired less than three years ago, you can renew it online through EZPay+, which is the government’s payment thing.

Since I was starting from scratch, I had to go the traditional route. I enrolled in a driving school. It wasn’t too bad, but it was mandatory. They covered all the road rules and stuff. Both theory and practical lessons – the whole shebang. I had to do a bunch of lessons before I could even think about the test.

Once I was done with the lessons, I had to gather some documents. I made sure I had my passport photos ready. Then I got my proof of age and where I live. I even had to get a medical fitness declaration. After that I went to the Licensing Authority office. It is a bit of a wait, to be honest, but I got everything verified.

After passing, I had to pay some fees at the Licensing Authority, then they finally gave me my license. The fee wasn’t too steep. It’s US$5 for a 2-month visitor’s permit. Or you can get a longer one if you’re staying for longer.
