I wanted to share my experience with buying a Myanmar passport online. It was quite a journey, so grab a coffee and let’s dive in.

First, I searched a lot about how to do this. I stumbled upon some official-sounding information. It said something about an online appointment system on a website. But honestly, it was confusing. The site mentioned using an online booking system, which was introduced sometime in March 2022. So, I decided to give it a try.

I visited the website, I had trouble to find their appointment page. There were some notes about using specific payment methods like KBZ Pay or MPU card for scheduling appointments in certain cities, starting from February 26th. I don’t even have those, but I kept going.

The requirements were a bit of a headache. They asked for an application number and a national ID number. If you didn’t have the ID, you needed to put in your birthdate. I filled in my details, hoping I did it right. It felt like a long shot, to be honest.

Then there was the photo. Oh boy, the photo! They wanted a very specific size, 35mm x 45mm, and it had to be super recent, like taken within the last six months. Front view only, and if you needed a digital copy, it had to be 600 dpi and 827×1063 pixels. I went to a local photo studio, got it done, and it was the thing I did right in this whole mess.

In the end, I got my Myanmar passport. It’s valid for five years, which is good. It wasn’t easy, and the online system was more complicated than I expected. But I made it through, and now I have a valid Myanmar passport.
