Order a Malvinas Driving License: Everything You Need to Know

So, the other day I finally got around to ordering a Malvinas driving license. I know, I know, it sounds kinda weird, but trust me, it’s a thing. It wasn’t exactly a walk in the park, so I figured I’d share my experience in case any of you are thinking of doing the same.

First off, I had to do some digging to even figure out where to start. There’s not exactly a big, flashing sign that says “Get Your Malvinas License Here!” I ended up going down a rabbit hole of websites and forums. Eventually, I found some info that helped me out.

Here’s what I did:

• Gathered my documents. Turns out, you need to show them your current valid license from back home. Thankfully I found mine, I’d almost lost it. I’ve heard you might need some other paperwork, but I got lucky – my regular license was enough.
• Filled out the application. This wasn’t too bad, just your standard name, address, etc. It is a lot of hassle.
• Waited. And waited. And waited some more. This part definitely tested my patience. I will explain later.
• Got the license! It finally arrived in the mail, and I gotta say, it looks pretty official.

Now, I know some of you might be wondering why anyone would bother with a Malvinas license. Well, it’s a bit of a niche thing, but from what I gather, it can be handy if you’re planning on spending a lot of time there. It’s not the same as getting a regular license in a new country – more like a special permit.

I watched some videos about how to deal with the theory test, and I think I’m prepared. From what I read, after a two year of trail period, I might be able to upgrade to a competent driving license.

Oh, and a word of warning: if you mess up and get any driving tickets, it goes on your record for both your regular license AND this one. So, you know, drive safe and all that jazz.
