Where to Buy Ghana ID Card? Top Places and Tips

I tell you what, getting one of them Ghana ID cards, it ain’t as easy as pie, but it ain’t rocket science neither. It’s like this, you gotta get yourself registered. Now, they call it the National Identification Authority, or NIA for short. Fancy name, huh?

You see, these Ghana cards, they are a big deal now. If you are a real Ghana person, then you need it. They say it is a must-have. Like, how can you live without it? Some folks are saying it is free to get the card if you are a real Ghana citizen. They said you just need to go to the NIA offices.

Now, for those coming from somewhere else, those foreigners, well, it’s a little bit different. They say it is about $120 to register and $60 to renew. Don’t ask me why it’s like that. That’s what they say. They even tell you to go to some website to check how much that is in your own money. Who even know how to use these websites?

They got these places, these NIA centers, all over the place. Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Kasoa, Tema, Sunyani, Ho, wherever! Just gotta find one near you. If you are a real citizen, then they said it is free. So many places, you can’t miss it, I reckon. You need to fill out some forms, though. Lots of papers to sign. They want all your information. They call it update your personal information. I don’t know what that means. They just want to know everything about you. Name, where you live, all that stuff. Make sure you write it all down right, or they’ll be hollerin’ at ya.

And these Ghana ID cards, they are important, they say. You need it for everything these days. Banks, they won’t even talk to you without it. You can’t open a bank account without it. That is what they told me. They said the card can help you establish bank accounts. What a world! Even if you need some doctoring, you better have that card. They say it helps you get healthcare. Healthcare? What is that? Back in my day, we just used herbs and such. But now, gotta have that card, or no doctor for you!

• Then, you gotta fill out a whole bunch of forms.
• They take your picture and ask all your personal details.
• Then, you wait. Wait some more.
• Finally, they give you the card.

Now they said there is some form online that you can fill before you go to their office. I don’t know what that means. If you know how to use the internet, you can do it. They said you need to buy some scratch card. And that scratch card is the only way to pay if you are a foreigner. They said the scratch card is called FIMS scratch card. I have no idea what that is. These young folks and their technology, I tell ya!

It is a headache if you ask me. But everyone says you need this Ghana card. It is essential, they say. It is like your life depends on it now. All these new things, it is hard to keep up. Back in my day, we did not need all these things. But the world is changing. They say it is a good thing. Progress, they call it. If you need to do business in Ghana, you need this card. They say it is a national ID. That means it is for the whole country. Every real Ghana person needs one.

So, if you’re thinking of getting one of these Ghana ID cards, just be prepared for a bit of a runaround. It ain’t gonna be a walk in the park. But once you got it, you’re good to go. You can do all sorts of things, they say. Just remember to find one of them NIA places, fill out those forms, and be patient. You’ll get your card eventually. And don’t forget your money if you ain’t from around here! $120 for the first time, then $60 every time you need a new one. Sheesh!
