Okay, so, I decided to get my Kazakhstan driving license sorted out online. Sounds pretty straightforward, right? Well, it kinda was, but there were a few bumps along the way, so I figured I’d share my experience.
First things first, I went onto the online portal. It looked official enough, so I thought, “Why not?” I had to either log in or register. Since I didn’t have an account, I went ahead and registered. It was your usual stuff – name, email, password, the whole nine yards. Once that was done, I was in.
Next step: I clicked on the “Request online” button. I guess that’s pretty obvious, but hey, you never know. Then came the fun part – filling out the e-request. There were quite a few sections to get through. I made sure I had all my information in front of me before I began because there is nothing worse than getting halfway through and realizing you need to find another document.

- I had to put in my personal details, address, all that jazz.
- Then came the photo. Luckily, I had a recent passport-style photo on my computer, so I just uploaded that. It had to meet certain requirements, of course, like size and background color, but it wasn’t too much of a hassle.
After filling everything out, I double-checked all the information. You know how it is, one typo and the whole thing could get messed up. Once I was sure everything was correct, I submitted the application. I saw something about a Specialized CSC. I am not entirely sure what that is, but I just put in the one closest to me. I think it had something to do with where I would pick up the license, but I am not one hundred percent sure.
Now, here’s the thing about getting a driver’s license in Kazakhstan – you usually have to pass theory exams and take practical lessons. But, I was replacing an old one because I changed my name, so I thought I could skip all that because I already had a license before. I mean, that is how it works back home.
After submitting, I got a confirmation email. It said it would take about 60 minutes to process. 60 minutes! That’s pretty quick. While I was waiting, I did some more digging online. I found out that if you’re just visiting Kazakhstan, you can use an International Driving Permit (IDP). That’s good to know for anyone planning a trip.
So, yeah, that’s my experience getting my Kazakhstan driving license online. It was mostly smooth sailing, just a bit of form-filling and waiting. I’ll update you guys when I actually get the license in my hands!
