Alright, so I’ve been meaning to get my hands on an Armenian driving license for a while now. It’s not exactly a walk in the park, but I figured it’s about time I shared my experience with you all.
First off, I had to get myself registered for the exams. There are two parts to this whole thing: the theory and the practical. Sounds pretty standard, right? Well, the theory part was a bit of a beast.
- I found out that there’s this massive questionnaire with 1116 questions. Yeah, you heard that right, over a thousand! Thankfully, you only get 20 random ones in the actual exam, and you need to nail at least 18 to pass. I spent days cramming, going through every possible question I could find on their police website.
- And let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. I made flashcards, joined some online forums, and even bugged a few friends who had gone through it before. After what felt like an eternity, I finally felt ready enough to tackle the written test.
Practical test!
Then came the practical test, which was a whole other story. Driving in urban conditions in Armenia? Let’s just say it’s not for the faint-hearted.

- I enrolled in a driving school, which was mandatory. The lessons were pretty intense. We covered everything from basic maneuvers to navigating through busy streets and tricky intersections. I practiced parallel parking until I could do it in my sleep, and I drove around the city with my instructor until I knew the roads like the back of my hand.
- My instructor was a tough cookie, but he knew his stuff. He pushed me to be better, and I’m grateful for that. There were times I thought I’d never get the hang of it, but I kept at it.
Application!
Once I passed both the theory and practical exams, I thought the hard part was over. Boy, was I wrong. The application process was another hurdle.
- I filled out the application form, attached a copy of my valid driver’s license from back home, signed it, and even had to get a color ID photo. It felt like I was applying for a passport or something!
Finally, I had two options: either visit their office in person or handle the application online.
- I opted for the online route because, let’s be real, who wants to spend hours waiting in line?
- It was surprisingly straightforward. I uploaded all the required documents, paid the fees, and hit submit.
After a few weeks of anxious waiting, I got the email. My Armenian driving license was approved! It was such a relief. I felt like I had conquered a mountain. Holding that license in my hands, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment.
So, there you have it. My journey to getting an Armenian driving license. It was a long and winding road, but I made it. And if I can do it, so can you! Just be prepared for some serious studying, some challenging driving, and a bit of paperwork. But trust me, it’s all worth it in the end.
