So, I wanted to get an Irish visa, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey. Here’s how it all went down, step-by-step.
Figuring Out What I Needed
First things first, I needed to figure out what kind of visa I needed. I was planning a trip to Ireland for less than three months, just a regular tourist visit. After reading on some websites, I found out that there’s a specific visa for that.
Gathering My Documents
Once I knew which visa to apply for, the next step was getting all my documents together. This was a bit of a pain, to be honest. I needed my passport, obviously, some recent passport-sized photos, and a bunch of other stuff. There was an application form that I needed to fill out very carefully. Made sure I had everything right because I didn’t want any delays.

Finding Where to Apply
Then came the tricky part – finding out where to actually apply. It’s not like you can just walk into any office. Turns out, there’s this company called VFS Global that handles visa applications for Ireland in some places. They have centers all over, and I had to find the one closest to me. I checked their website, which had a list of all their locations.
Submitting My Application
With all my documents in order, I went to the VFS Global center. I had to book an appointment online beforehand, which was pretty straightforward. When I got there, I handed over all my papers, paid the visa fee, and that was that. They took my biometrics too, fingerprints and a photo. It felt very official.
Waiting Game
After submitting everything, all I could do was wait. It’s definitely the hardest part. I kept checking my email and their website for any updates. The processing time can vary, but for short-stay visas, it’s usually a few weeks. I’d heard stories about it taking longer, so I was a bit anxious.
Getting the Visa
Finally, the good news arrived! My visa application was approved. I had to go back to the VFS Global center to collect my passport, and there it was, the Irish visa stamped inside. Such a relief! It meant I was all set for my trip.
Preparing for My Trip
With the visa in hand, I could finally focus on planning my trip. Booked my flights, found a nice place to stay, and started making a list of all the places I wanted to visit in Ireland. The visa was valid from January 8, 2025, so I had plenty of time to get everything ready.
And that’s how I got my Irish visa. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it in the end. I’m really excited to explore Ireland!
