Where to buy Zimbabwe driving license online? (Check out these options)

Alright, so, I’ve been meaning to share this for a while, and today’s the day. I finally got around to figuring out how to buy my Zimbabwean driver’s license online. It was a bit of a journey, let me tell you, but totally worth it in the end.

First things first, I started by digging around for information. I mean, who actually knows where to start with these things, right? I stumbled upon a few websites, forums and discussions talking about the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) offices, the Central Vehicle Registry (CVR), and some other official-sounding stuff. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming at first.

But I’m not one to give up easily. I kept searching and finally found some useful tips. Turns out, you gotta deal with the VID for this. They’re the ones who issue the licenses. Someone online mentioned that they handle everything from learner’s permits to the actual driving test. There’s also something called a DG Number, which I guess is important for the application.

Here’s what I did, step-by-step:

• Gathered all my information. This included my full name, ID number, and that DG number I mentioned. I also had to figure out which VID Test Centre I wanted to use as my licensing location and the year I wanted to get my license.
• Got my hands on the Highway Code. Apparently, it’s like the bible of road rules here in Zimbabwe. I found it at a local shop, and it cost me around $2 or $3, which isn’t too bad.
• Paid a visit to the VID office. I thought I could do it all online but not sure, so I went in person, better be safe. I had to fill out some forms and provide all the information I had gathered earlier. I also had to pay a fee of US$5. It took me around 30 minutes at the office.
• Waited for the processing. They told me it would take about seven to ten days to process everything. Honestly, it felt like forever, but I understand, you know, bureaucracy and all that.

And guess what? After about a week, I got a call saying my license was ready! I went back to the VID office, picked it up, and bam, I was officially a licensed driver in Zimbabwe. It wasn’t a walk in the park, but I got it done. And now, I can finally drive around legally and feel way more independent.
