Alright, so I needed to get an Ethiopian visa, and I heard it’s easier to do it online. So, I decided to give it a shot. Here’s how it went down.
First things first, I opened up my trusty laptop and fired up my browser. Typed in something like “Ethiopian visa online” into the search bar, and a bunch of results popped up. I picked the one that looked the most official – you know, government-looking website and all that.
Once I was on the site, I started looking around for where to actually apply. It was a bit confusing at first, but I eventually found a button that said “Apply Now” or something similar. Clicked on that, and it took me to another page.

This new page had a form that I needed to fill out. It asked for all the usual stuff – name, passport details, travel dates, and so on. I carefully typed in all my information, making sure not to make any mistakes. It took a bit of time, but I got it all in there.
After I filled out the form, it asked me to upload some documents. I had to scan my passport and take a passport-sized photo of myself. I used my phone to take the photo and then transferred it to my computer. Then, I uploaded both the passport scan and the photo to the website.
Next up was the payment. I had to pay a fee for the visa, so I pulled out my credit card and entered the details on the website. It was a secure payment page, so I felt pretty safe doing it. After I submitted the payment, I got a confirmation message on the screen.
Then came the waiting game. The website said it would take a few days to process my application, so I just had to be patient. I kept checking my email every day to see if there were any updates.
Finally, after about three days, I got an email saying my visa application was approved! I was so relieved. The email had a link to download my e-visa, which was basically a PDF document. I downloaded it and printed it out, just in case.
In short, here are the steps
- Found the official website.
- Filled out the application form.
- Uploaded my passport and photo.
- Paid the visa fee.
- Waited for the application to be processed.
- Downloaded and printed my e-visa.
So yeah, that’s how I got my Ethiopian visa online. It was a bit of a process, but definitely doable. If you’re planning to visit Ethiopia, I’d recommend doing it this way. It saves you a trip to the embassy, and you can do it all from the comfort of your own home.
