Today I’m gonna share my experience of how I got a Swiss ID card online. It wasn’t as tough as I thought it would be, to be honest.
First, I went digging around on the internet to see where I could even start this process. I found out that you can actually order these things online or go to some office in your area. I ain’t got time for no office visit, so online it was. I saw a couple of different websites that said they could help with this, but I decided to use a site after reading a bunch of reviews.
Filling out the forms was the next step. It was pretty much what you’d expect. Name, address, the usual stuff. They also asked for a photo. I just used a picture I already had on my phone. I made sure to follow their photo rules, though. They’re picky about the size and background and all that jazz. I think that part is important because they use this photo on your ID card.

Then came the payment part. I paid with my credit card, no problem. After that, it was just a waiting game. They said it would take about 10 days, but for folks outside of Switzerland, it can be up to 30 days. Mine showed up in about eight days, which was a pleasant surprise.
- Went online and did some research.
- Chose a website to use.
- Filled out the forms and uploaded a photo.
- Paid with my credit card.
- Waited for the ID to arrive in the mail.
- Got my Swiss ID in about eight days.
And that’s really all there was to it. Got my Swiss ID card without having to leave my couch. Pretty neat, huh? If you follow these steps, you should be able to get yours without too much hassle. Just make sure you’re using a legit site and following all their instructions to a T.
A Quick Recap
All in all, getting a Swiss ID card online was way easier than I expected. No need to go to some government office and wait in line. Just a few clicks and a bit of waiting, and boom, you’ve got your ID. I hope this helps anyone out there looking to get a Swiss ID card. It’s really not that bad.
