Okay, so I’ve been wanting to drive in Argentina for a while now. It’s a beautiful country, and I figured having a driver’s license would make exploring it so much easier. But let me tell you, figuring out how to get one was a bit of a headache at first. I mean, where do you even start, right?
So, I started by doing what everyone does – I googled it. I found a bunch of websites, but most of them were pretty confusing. Lots of legal jargon and stuff that just went over my head. But I did learn that I needed an International Driving Permit, or IDP, along with my regular license. I dug deeper and found that you can supposedly get an Argentine driver’s license without all that mess, but there’s a process.
Apparently, the first thing you gotta do is book an appointment at a local license center. I read somewhere that you can do it online or in person. Seemed easy enough, though I wasn’t sure which website to use. It was all a bit overwhelming.

Then I stumbled upon some forums where people were talking about their experiences. A lot of them mentioned needing to take a driving course, both theoretical and practical. That made sense, I guess. You can’t just hand out licenses to anyone, right? So, I started looking up driving schools, but there were so many options! It was hard to tell which ones were legit and which ones were just trying to scam people. I am still not sure what school is right for me.
After days of going in circles, I finally decided to reach out to a few of these online places that claim they can get you a license without all the hassle. Now, I know what you’re thinking – it sounds kinda sketchy, right? But I figured it was worth a shot. I mean, I really wanted to get behind the wheel and explore Argentina at my own pace.
I filled out some forms, sent over some documents, and now I’m just waiting. Fingers crossed it all works out! I’ll definitely keep you guys updated on how it goes. Hopefully, I’ll be cruising down those Argentine roads in no time. Wish me luck!
Here’s what I’ve gathered so far:
- You supposedly need to take a driving course (theory and practice).
- You need to book an appointment at a license center.
- There are online services that claim they can get you a license without going through the official process (still trying to figure that out).
- Always carry your IDP and your national license when driving.
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m determined to get this done. Driving in Argentina, here I come (hopefully)!
