So, I needed a Pakistan ID card, and I didn’t know where to start. I mean, I live outside Pakistan, and I really wanted to get this done as quickly as possible. After some digging around, I stumbled upon this thing called Pak Identity. It’s basically a website where you can apply for a Pakistani ID card online.
First, I went to the Pak Identity website. The homepage looked pretty straightforward. I saw a bunch of different categories, but the one I needed was the “Smart National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis,” or SNICOP for short. I clicked on that and started my application. I had to fill in a bunch of forms online. You know, the usual stuff like your name, address, parents’ information, and all that jazz.
Here’s what I did step-by-step:
- Started the application: Chose the SNICOP category and began filling out the forms.
- Filled in the forms: Provided all the necessary personal information. It was a bit tedious, but I powered through.
- Paid the fee: This part was easy. I just used my credit card. They have some guidelines on their website about how to make the payment, but it was pretty much like any other online payment.
- Uploaded a photo: I had to upload a scanned photo of myself. They have some specific requirements for the photo, so I made sure to follow those.
After I did all that, I had to choose a delivery method. I opted for the one where they send it directly to your doorstep, because who wants to go to an office, right? Anyway, I submitted everything and waited.
Waiting Game
The waiting was the hardest part, honestly. I kept checking my email and the website for updates. They do tell you how long it will take to process and deliver the ID card, but I was still anxious.
Finally, after a few weeks, I got an email saying my ID card was on its way. And guess what? A few days later, it arrived at my doorstep! It was such a relief to finally have it in my hands.
I know it sounds like a hassle, but using the Pak Identity website actually made the whole process pretty smooth. If you’re an overseas Pakistani and need an ID card, I definitely recommend checking it out. It saved me a lot of time and effort. This way works, at least for me.
I also found out that you can also use the Pak ID app, but I didn’t try that. The website worked just fine for me, so I didn’t bother with the app. Plus, it turns out that NADRA (that’s the National Database and Registration Authority) started these online services back in 2015, which is pretty cool. So, yeah, that’s my experience with getting a Pakistan ID card online. Hope this helps someone out there!
