Hey there, y’all. So, you wanna get yourself a Nepali driving license, huh? Well, listen up, ’cause I’m gonna tell ya how it’s done, the way I understand it, mind you. No fancy talk, just plain and simple.

First off, you gotta be old enough. Can’t have no babies drivin’ around, now can we? They got rules about that, you know. Gotta be a certain age, but I don’t rightly recall what it is. You go find that out yourself, okay? Use that there internet thingy.

Now, the way I hear it, you gotta go to some office, the “transport management office” they call it. Sounds fancy, but it’s just a place where they deal with all this drivin’ stuff. You gotta go there, fill out some papers. Lots of papers, probably. They always make you fill out lots of papers, don’t they?

  • First thing, they gonna want your name. That’s easy enough, right?
  • Then your contact info – where you live, your phone number, that kinda stuff.
  • And your birthday. Gotta know how old you are, I guess.

After that paper stuff, they gonna make you jump through some more hoops. Something about an “online form” now. Everything’s online these days, even gettin’ a driver’s license! You gotta go on that computer thingy, fill out another form, make up a password. Don’t ask me why you need a password, but they say you do. And then you gotta pick one of them security questions, you know, like “what’s your favorite color?” Only they ask harder questions, I reckon. Don’t go forgettin’ the answer, or you’ll be in a pickle!

Now, here’s the kicker. You gotta pass a test. That’s right, a drivin’ test. They gonna watch you drive, see if you know what you’re doin’. Don’t go runnin’ into nothin’, and pay attention to them signs. They got signs everywhere, tellin’ you what to do. Stop here, go there, don’t go there. It’s enough to make your head spin, but you gotta learn it if you wanna drive.

And if you pass that test, then you gotta pay some money. They call it “revenue,” sounds important, but it’s just money. Fifteen hundred rupees, they say. Don’t go losin’ that payment slip, ’cause you’ll need it. And they give you a license number too, whatever that is. They say it takes a long, long time to get the actual license card, the one you put in your wallet. More than a year sometimes! Can you believe that? More than a year to get a little plastic card. In my day, things weren’t so complicated.

So, that’s about it, as far as I know. It ain’t easy, that’s for sure. Lots of steps, lots of papers, lots of waiting. But if you wanna drive legal-like in Nepal, that’s what you gotta do. Just be patient, and don’t give up. And for goodness sake, drive safe once you get that license! We don’t need no more crazy drivers on the road, you hear?

Remember, this here is just what I’ve heard, you know, from folks talkin’. Things might change, so don’t go blamin’ me if somethin’s different. You go check for yourself, alright? Don’t just take my word for it. I’m just tellin’ you what I know, the best way I can. Now, you go on and get that license. Good luck to ya!

And one more thing, they say somethin’ about needing a “mobile number registered.” I don’t rightly know what that means, but it sounds important. So make sure you got that figured out too. Seems like you need a phone for everything these days. Back in my day, we didn’t have no phones, and we got along just fine. But times change, I guess.

Anyway, that’s the whole shebang. Hope it helps ya get that license. Now, go on, git!
