I needed a Yemen ID card recently, and let me tell you, the whole process was something else. I decided to go the online route, which, in hindsight, had its own set of adventures.
First off, I started by hunting around for a place online where I could apply for this. I found a bunch of sites that promised to help with ID photos and applications. I picked one that seemed okay, nothing too fancy. It had this feature where you upload a photo, and it supposedly makes it fit the ID requirements.
Taking the Photo

- Step 1: I used my phone to snap a picture. The website had this green overlay thing to help position my head just right. I must have taken like 20 shots before I got one that looked decent and aligned with their guide.
- Step 2: Uploaded the photo to the site. It did its thing, cropping and adjusting, and honestly, it looked pretty official.
After getting the photo sorted, I moved on to the application part. I thought maybe I could do the whole thing online, but nah, that wasn’t the case.
Filling Out the Application
- Step 1: The site had a form to fill out, but it was more like a pre-application. I entered all my details as requested, feeling a bit like I was just giving away my info without knowing where it was going.
- Step 2: I was under the impression that I could just pay a fee online and be done with it. But it turned out I had to go to an actual Automatic Issuance Center to complete the application in person. Talk about a bummer.
So, off I went to this center. It was a bit of a hassle, but I completed the application, paid the fees, and did all the necessary stuff they asked for. It felt a bit like going back in time, having started online and then ending up in a queue.
In the end, I did get my Yemen ID card. It was a mix of online convenience and old-school bureaucracy. If you’re planning to get one, be prepared for a bit of both. It’s doable, just not as straightforward as I initially thought. You live and learn, right?
Looking back, the online part was helpful for the photo, but the rest was a bit misleading. It’s always a good idea to double-check the process and maybe not rely entirely on the first website you find. Anyway, that’s my story of getting a Yemen ID card. Hopefully, it gives you a bit of a heads-up if you ever need to get one yourself.
