Alright, folks, gather ’round, ’cause I’ve got a bit of a story for ya. It’s about the time I went and got myself a French Polynesian passport. Now, why would I do that, you ask? Well, it turns out this little booklet lets you waltz into around 70 countries without the hassle of a visa. Pretty neat, huh?
So, first things first, I had to figure out if I was even eligible. Turns out, you gotta be a French national to get this passport. No biggie there, I fit the bill. This means no foreigners can get this passport, not even other European guys.
Next up, I started poking around about how long this whole thing would take. From what I gathered, a short-stay visa takes about 15 days. But I wasn’t after a visa; I wanted the whole shebang, the passport. It takes around a month in total.

Now, way back in 1946, Polynesians were granted French citizenship, and the islands became an overseas territory. Fast forward to 1957, and they officially became known as French Polynesia. That’s a little history lesson for ya, free of charge.
Okay, back to my mission. I found out that everyone heading to French Polynesia needs a passport that’s gonna be valid for at least six months after their trip. Makes sense, gotta plan ahead, right? The French Polynesia passport is a document that is issued by the French Polynesian government. I also registered my planned trip with the US Department of State to get the latest safety conditions of French Polynesia.
I stumbled upon something called a “Sams Order Form” online. Apparently, you gotta fill out this form with your name, address, and all that jazz. Seemed simple enough, so I got that done.
Then there was this “VIP Concierge Service” thing. It sounded fancy, so I clicked “Yes,” filled out another simple form, and hoped for the best. I have no idea whether this service is useful or not but I just clicked it.
I did a bit more digging on where this passport could take me. Visa requirements can change anytime, so always check before making travel plans.
And that’s pretty much the gist of it. It wasn’t the most straightforward process, but hey, I got my French Polynesian passport in the end. Now I just gotta figure out where to go first! It was an interesting journey, to say the least. Stay tuned for more of my random adventures, folks!
