Alright, so, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Liberian driver’s license for a while now. You see, I travel a lot, and sometimes my regular license just doesn’t cut it. Plus, Liberia doesn’t recognize driver’s licenses from my country. So, I figured, why not get a Liberian one? It seemed like a good idea at the time.
Finding Information Online
First things first, I had to do some digging. I started with a simple web search. I found out that you can actually get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in Liberia. Cool, right? It’s basically a translation of your national driving license that allows you to drive in foreign countries. Liberia recognizes physical IDPs. But here’s the catch, the IDP isn’t a standalone license, you still need your original one. I also found some info about actually getting a Liberian driver’s license, which would allow me to legally drive on their roads.
Weighing My Options
So, I had two options: get an IDP or go for the full Liberian license. The IDP seemed easier, but it wouldn’t solve my problem in the long run. I needed something more permanent. The Liberian license was the way to go, but it sounded like a lot more work. I decided to sleep on it.

Making the Decision
The next day, I woke up and thought, “What the heck, let’s do this!” I was going to get that Liberian driver’s license. I mean, how hard could it be? I’m a pretty good driver, and I’m sure I could figure out their rules of the road. It would be an adventure!
Going Through the Process
I started looking for ways to apply. It turns out, there are local licensing offices in Liberia where you can apply for an IDP, and presumably, a driver’s license as well. I also stumbled upon some websites that claimed to help you get a Liberian driver’s license online. Seemed sketchy, but also convenient. After some more research, I found that a physical IDP is a requirement to start the process to get a Liberian driving license.
The Outcome
After filling out some online forms and waiting for what felt like forever, I finally received my IDP and then began applying for a Liberian driving license! It was a bit of a process, and there were definitely some moments where I wondered what I had gotten myself into. But hey, I did it! I got my very own Liberian driver’s license, and it felt pretty darn good.
Looking back, it was a bit of a wild ride. I learned a lot about the process of getting a driver’s license in another country, and I definitely had some interesting experiences along the way. Would I do it again? Maybe. It’s definitely a story to tell, that’s for sure!
