Okay, so I’ve been trying to get a Liberian passport for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I figured I’d share my experience here in case anyone else is going through the same thing.
First off, I went online and started digging around. I needed to figure out the process, what forms to fill, where to go, you know, the whole nine yards. It felt a bit overwhelming at first, but I found some information about applying for a new Liberian ECOWAS Biometric e-passport. Apparently, that’s the one they’re issuing now. No more renewals of the old ones, it’s all about this new biometric thing.
I found out that I need to complete an online application form, then I would understand I should pay some money and make an appointment to go in person. Okay, that sounds simple enough. I followed the instructions on the website. It’s called “BIORAP Online” or something like that. After I completed this form, I began to fill in my details, personal information, address, the usual stuff. I made sure to double-check everything because you don’t want any mistakes on these official documents.

Next up, I needed to find out where to actually apply. Turned out, there was specific information for those living outside Liberia where they don’t have a passport processing center. It’s for “the best of services”. But at first, I did not find the right place, cause there are so many places you can go.
Eventually, I managed to schedule an appointment. This was a relief! I gathered all my documents, photos, and everything else they asked for. I was a bit nervous on the day of the appointment, but it actually went pretty smoothly. The people there were helpful, and I just had to hand in my application, pay the fee, and get my biometrics taken. It was the first time I do the biometrics thing, I felt very excited. They scanned my fingerprints and took my photo. Pretty high-tech stuff!
- Searched online for information about the new Liberian ECOWAS Biometric e-passport.
- Found the online application form and filled it out very carefully.
- Paid the application fee online. I don’t know why but I felt unsafe at the payment part.
- Figured out where to apply and scheduled an appointment online.
- Went to the appointment with all my required documents.
- Got my biometrics taken (fingerprints and photo).
- Submitted my application and paid the processing fee in person.
Here’s a little breakdown of what I did:
Now, it’s just a waiting game. They said it would take a few weeks to process everything. Fingers crossed! I’m hoping to have my new passport in hand soon. I’ll update this post when I finally get it. Hopefully, my experience can be helpful to someone else out there trying to get their Liberian passport.
